The one-piece cast iron housing bolts directly to the transmission opening without an adapter plate, removing a potential leak path. Wire/cable mechanical shift is standard on this configuration, with a pressure-lube output ("P" suffix) and a 1-1/4" round output shaft with key. Intermittent torque capacity for the 489 Series is 201-300 lb-ft (301-400 Nm); shaft power runs 24 HP at 500 RPM and 48 HP at 1,000 RPM. Internal parts are shared with the proven Chelsea 442 Series.
