The Chelsea 897RDFJW-M5XS or 897RDFJWM5XS is a constant-mesh PTO assembly built for Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. The 897 Series mounts via a 10-bolt pattern at the side of the transmission and positions the pump output flange to the rear of the transmission, tucking the housing tightly against the trans for improved clearance between the pump and the frame rail. A one-piece main shaft eliminates the input splines that a PTO-plus-extension arrangement would require. The SAE C output shaft uses Wet Spline Technology to extend both PTO and pump shaft service life in demanding duty cycles. Continuous-duty torque capacity reaches 670 lb-ft; intermittent torque is rated at 501+ lb-ft. At 1,000 RPM the shaft delivers 128 HP.
