The Meritor 2258N1262 spring is a genuine Meritor part, sold by Pro Gear and Transmission as a 10 pack. Our parts manual lists it as Spring Main Diff. Lock in the Meritor 140/141/143/144/145 Series Drive Axle (item 138 in the carriers for single axles and rears of tandem axles, item 68 in the forward carriers of tandem axles) and in the Meritor 160/161/164 Series Drive Axle (items 151 and 73 in the same two carrier groups), one per assembly. It also appears in the RD-20-145, RD-23-160 and RT-40-145 drive axles, as a Spring in the 180/185/186 and 380 Series service kits, and as the shifter spring in the MTC-3124 and MTC-4210X/XP transfer cases.
In the carrier's differential lock, a spring like this works with the shift fork and shift shaft that slide the lock collar in and out of engagement. Changing it normally calls for a spring compression tool, because the fork has to be pushed past the spring before it can be freed. Call us to confirm proper fit for your application.
