It delivers a single, continuous duty torque rating of up to 390 lb-ft, made possible by wider gears and larger-capacity bearings than the 287 Series it replaces. The ductile iron bearing caps are 117% stronger than gray iron, and an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load and resists vibrational stress from modern engine designs. The round output shaft features a positive stop to prevent oil seal damage from driveline couplings. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high ranges.
