The Chelsea 890 Series Power Take-Off, part number 890EAFJW-B5XY or 890EAFJWB5XY, is a hydraulic hot-shift PTO engineered specifically for Allison 3000 MD and 4000 HD Series transmissions. It mounts via a 10-bolt pattern and uses a hydraulic PowerShift engagement. The SAE C ("XS") output shaft features Wet Spline Technology to reduce wear on both the PTO and pump shaft in high-demand service. Unlike a PTO-plus-extension setup, the 890 Series uses a single one-piece main shaft, which eliminates inter-unit input splines. The clutch sits at the rear of the PTO housing, allowing the gear section to sit closer to the transmission for improved clearance. Shaft power output reaches 64 HP at 500 RPM and 128 HP at 1,000 RPM. Common applications include aerial trucks, fire and rescue trucks, refuse trucks, and truck cranes. Additional Information
The Chelsea 890 Series is designed to mount like a standard side-mount PTO while locating the pump output to the rear of the transmission for improved clearance between the transmission and the frame rail. An additional support bracket at the rear of the transmission provides stability. The single one-piece main shaft design eliminates the input splines that would otherwise exist between a separate PTO body and an output extension, reducing potential wear points. The clutch is positioned at the rear of the PTO so the housing and gear section sit tight against the transmission. Wet Spline Technology on the output is standard across the 890 Series, addressing pump shaft wear in demanding, high-torque applications such as aerial work trucks, fire and rescue apparatus, refuse vehicles, and truck cranes. The 890 Series can be configured for transmissions equipped with or without a cooler or retarder.Parts Manual: Chelsea 890 Series PTO Parts Manual (PDF) — exploded views, item numbers and the full parts breakdown for this series.
