It mounts via a 10-bolt aperture and delivers nine speed ratios covering both low and high ranges. The 281 Series evolved directly from the top-selling 280 Series, with a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron and an enhanced clutch pack featuring 80% thicker steel discs to resist premature tooth wear. An o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load and reduces vibrational effects. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce interference during pump installation.
