The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off Assembly, part number 281GDFJW-B5RZ or 281GDFJWB5RZ, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO designed for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar applications. It carries a continuous duty torque rating of 390 lb-ft (529 Nm) and supports output power of 56 HP or more. Nine speed ratios cover both low and high ranges. The 281 Series improves on the 280 Series platform with a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap, and an 80% thicker clutch pack steel disc stack to resist premature tooth wear. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce pump clearance interference. Optional wet spline lubrication delivers 7 to 10 times greater shaft life.
