The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off (part number 281GDKVP-B8RS or 281GDKVPB8RS) is a hydraulically shifted, hot-shift PTO built for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar applications. It mounts via a 10-bolt flange and supports continuous operation across nine speed ratios spanning low and high ranges. The 281 Series evolved directly from the 280 Series with a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap for improved clamp load, and an 80% thicker clutch pack to resist premature tooth wear. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce pump-clearance interference. The optional wet spline lubrication extends shaft life by 7 to 10 times over a standard configuration. Electronic Overspeed Control (EOC) protects downstream driven equipment, and SmartStart reduces shock load at engagement.
