The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off, part number 281GSFJW-B5RY or 281GSFJWB5RY, is a hydraulically shifted hot-shift PTO engineered for automatic transmissions with a 10-bolt aperture, including Allison and Caterpillar units. The 281 Series is an evolution of the 280 Series, carrying a series-rated continuous torque of 390 lb-ft and nine available speed ratios spanning low and high ranges. The ductile iron bearing cap is 117% stronger than gray iron, and an o-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load while reducing vibration-related wear. The clutch pack uses steel discs that are 80% thicker than the previous generation to resist premature tooth wear. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce interference clearance issues, and the Wet Spline Lubrication option extends shaft service life by 7 to 10 times.
