The one-piece cast iron housing bolts directly to the transmission opening without an adapter plate, eliminating a potential leak path. Shift is wire/cable mechanical. The 1-1/4" round output shaft (with key) is driven by tapered bearings for greater load capacity than needle-bearing designs. Intermittent torque rating for the 489 Series is 201-300 lb-ft; shaft power reaches 48 HP at 1,000 RPM. Internal parts share commonality with the Chelsea 442 Series.
