The one-piece cast iron housing eliminates the adapter plate found on older designs, removing a potential leak path and cutting installation time. Intermittent torque capacity for this 489 Series unit is 250 lb-ft (339 Nm); continuous ratings de-rate 30% from there. Shaft power runs 24 HP at 500 RPM and 48 HP at 1,000 RPM. Shift is wire/cable mechanical. The 1-1/4" round output shaft accepts a key and shares internal components with the Chelsea 442 Series, so service parts are widely stocked.
