The Spicer TTC 313453X is the 4th and 5th speed synchronizer assembly in the output mainshaft group, listed one per assembly in the Spicer CM5552-A, CM5552-B, CM5552-C, CM5552-D and CM5852-A transmissions. A synchronizer uses friction to bring the sliding sleeve and the gear to the same speed so the sleeve can engage without gear teeth clashing. A worn one shows up as grinding or crunching in the shift, a stiff lever, or the gear popping out under load. Our parts manual also shows a clutch gear that can be used in place of the synchronizer.
