New vs. rebuilt semi truck transmissions

A remanufactured exchange transmission is the fastest way back on the road. It is fully rebuilt and tested, and it is sold with a core charge that is refunded after we receive and inspect your old unit, subject to the manufacturer's core policy. A new Eaton Fuller program unit, ordered by its TA or TN number, is the choice for a new build or when you want a factory-new gearbox. How to find the right transmission for your truck

Every heavy duty transmission carries a data tag, usually on the passenger (right) side of the case. Send us the model number, the serial number and, on an Eaton, the TA number, and we will confirm the exact match. Our guide on how to identify an Eaton transmission shows where to look. What fluid does a semi truck transmission take?

Eaton specifies PS-386 synthetic transmission lubricant for its Fuller manual transmissions, and using it is part of Eaton's extended warranty programs. Fill capacity depends on the model: the RTLO-18918B holds about 28 pints. Other gear oils are under transmission fluids and lubricants.
