The 878 Series advances the proven 877 Series design with a ductile iron bearing cap rated 117% stronger than gray iron, an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap for improved clamp load, and steel clutch disc thickness increased by 80% to handle the vibrational demands of modern engine designs. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce interference clearance issues, and the Positive Stop feature on driveline outputs eliminates oil seal damage from coupling contact. The Wet Spline Lubrication option extends shaft life 7 to 10 times over standard lubrication. Nine speed ratios span low and high speed ranges, and a hose is included with the assembly.
