The Chelsea 489 Series Power Take-Off, part number 489XHITX-V5RB or 489XHITXV5RB, is an 8-bolt PTO assembly designed for manual transmissions including Eaton Fuller, Volvo, Mack, and other compatible units. The one-piece cast iron housing mounts directly to the 8-bolt transmission opening, eliminating the need for an adapter plate and reducing potential leak paths. Output shaft is a 1-1/4" round with key. Shift is wire/cable mechanical. The 489 Series delivers the same intermittent torque capacity as the 442 Series - up to 250 lb-ft (339 Nm) - with shaft power of 24 HP at 500 RPM and 48 HP at 1,000 RPM. Tapered bearings provide greater load-bearing capability compared to needle bearings. Common applications include utility trucks, dump trucks, and snow and ice removal equipment.
