The Chelsea 272 Series Power Take-Off Assembly, part number 272XSJWX-B3RK or 272XSJWXB3RK, is a 6-bolt hot shift PTO designed for medium-duty applications including towing and recovery, aerial work, construction equipment, and water trucks. It mounts via a 6-bolt pattern and delivers a 1-1/4" round output shaft with a 5/16" key. Shift is pneumatic or PowerShift (pneumatic/hydraulic), and the unit includes an integral air control valve. Continuous torque capability reaches 300 lb-ft (407 Nm); intermittent torque is rated at 201-300 lb-ft (401-500 Nm). The Chelsea 272 Series consolidates and replaces the earlier 230, 231, 236, 238, 270, and 271 Series medium-duty hot shift PTOs. The series offers nine speed ratios and eighteen shift options. Direct-mount outputs include an optional Wet-Spline configuration for extended PTO and pump shaft service life. Driveshaft output configurations are available with Smart Start for high-torque start-up conditions. Rotatable flanges allow flexible installation positioning. The 272 Series is suited for aerial, construction, towing and recovery, water truck, and defense applications.
