The Chelsea 890 Series Power Take-Off, part number 890FAFJW-D5XS or 890FAFJWD5XS, is a hydraulic hot-shift PTO engineered specifically for Allison 3000 MD and 4000 HD Series transmissions. It mounts with a 10-bolt pattern and delivers an SAE C output shaft with the extended "XS" configuration, moving the pump mounting flange to the rear of the transmission for improved clearance between the pump and the frame rail. Continuous-duty torque is rated up to 670 ft-lb; intermittent torque exceeds 501 ft-lb. Shaft power reaches 64 HP at 500 RPM and 128 HP at 1,000 RPM. The wet-spline output lubrication extends pump shaft life under demanding duty cycles. Common applications include aerial trucks, fire and rescue equipment, refuse trucks, and truck cranes. The 890 Series is built as a single unit with a one-piece main shaft, eliminating the input splines found between a conventional PTO and a separate output extension. The clutch is positioned at the rear of the PTO housing, allowing the gear section to sit tightly against the transmission for tighter packaging. Although it mounts like a standard side-mounted PTO, the 890 Series includes an additional support bracket at the rear of the transmission. This design makes it well suited for aerial trucks, fire and rescue vehicles, refuse trucks, pumper cleaners, and truck cranes where high torque output and limited pump clearance are both concerns. The unit can be ordered to accommodate transmissions with or without a cooler, a retarder, or both. Not sure this is the right PTO for your truck? Give us a call.
