The Chelsea 878 Series Power Take-Off, part number 878XEFJP-M3AB or 878XEFJPM3AB, is a constant mesh PTO engineered for Allison and CAT 10-bolt transmissions. The ductile iron bearing cap is 117% stronger than gray iron, and an O-ring sealing configuration between the housing and bearing cap improves clamp load while reducing vibrational effects from modern engine designs. Steel disc thickness within the clutch pack has been increased by 80% over the predecessor 877 Series design. The 878 Series delivers up to 670 lb-ft (908 Nm) in a single continuous-duty torque rating, covering both intermittent and continuous applications. Nine speed ratios span low and high ranges. Rotatable cast-iron flanges reduce clearance and interference issues, and driveline outputs include a positive stop to prevent oil seal damage.
