The Chelsea 897CAFJW-M3CZ or 897CAFJWM3CZ is a constant-mesh power take-off assembly built for Allison 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. It uses a 10-bolt mounting configuration and an SAE C output flange with a wet-spline output shaft, which extends pump spline life in demanding duty cycles. The 897 Series design places the pump mounting flange at the rear of the transmission, giving the pump and housing more clearance by tucking the gear section tightly against the transmission case. A one-piece main shaft eliminates the intermediate input splines found on extension-based designs. Continuous-duty torque is rated up to 670 lb-ft; intermittent torque is rated 501+ lb-ft. Shaft power output reaches 128 HP at 1,000 RPM. Typical applications include aerial trucks, fire and rescue vehicles, refuse trucks, and truck cranes.
